What is your current job title? Fleet Manager

What is your highest level of education?

    MA English Literature

If elected or re-elected, what will be your top priority? Why?

Top priorities are paving roads, building a Gymnasium/Recreation Center, expanding the library and adding/encouraging solar panels to our grid, town hall and Operations center. More parking for downtown businesses and adding an EV charger downtown.

If elected or re-elected, how will you involve your constituents in the process of making decisions?

By seeking out ideas, suggestions and recommendations from citizens and business owners.

Why should voters choose you for the position you are running for?

Winterville needs leadership and a mayor with an agenda. I want to get some things done in Winterville and not waste taxpayer money. In the last four years the town purchased a 6-million-dollar Ladder Fire Truck that we don't' need. We need to spend our money making life better for the people of Winterville who pay the taxes. Vote for me if you want to see tax money go to roads and Recreation and making our town better.

What three things about you do you most want voters to know?

I have a lot of experience in local planning and volunteering. I am on the Pitt County Planning Board, The Winterville Planning Board, The Pitt County Board of Adjustments and the Winterville Historical and Arts Society Board.

Is there anything else you wish to say?

My mother died from Covid last November. I watched it happen. It was the most horrible thing I have ever seen. My 5 year old daughter lost her best friend. If you are indoors wear a mask. If you are not vaccinated, go get vaccinated now.

What is your current job title? Retired Public School Teacher; 32 years in the classrooms of North Carolina

What is your highest level of education?

1974 BS in Education ECU. 1981 Master’s in Education ECU

If elected or re-elected, what will be your top priority? Why?

My top priority will be the location of property for a Multi-Purpose Building. This is one of the greatest needs on our Recreation Needs Assessments since 2005.The facility would facilitate additional activities and programs. These activities would promote underserved groups to participate in recreation offerings. Examples are basketball, game room, Senior activities and crafts. It could also be used for large group activities such as family reunions, school reunions, conferences, etc.

If elected or re-elected, how will you involve your constituents in the process of making decisions?

Constituents would be involved in the decision making process by my solicitation of their ideas and listening to their concerns. I will call them for their ideas or input on matters in their neighborhood or the town that are coming before the council. I also support a Human Relations Council. These group would advise the council and work to build relations across a diverse community.

Why should voters choose you for the position you are running for?

I have the experience to serve as Mayor. I have served almost 14years on the council and one year as Mayor Pro-Tem. I have training in local government as provided by the North Carolina School of Government in Chapel Hill and The North Carolina League of Municipalities. I have obtained the “Ambassador” level in the completed trading programs. I have served on a variety of boards as the town’s representative, CMSD, Library Board, Mid-East and Comprehensive Land Use.

What three things about you do you most want voters to know?

I am willing to devote the time and energy into the office of mayor. I am dedicated to the task of serving our community as it’s official elected representative. I have lived in Winterville my entire life. I am concerned about the things that affect the lives of my community members.

Is there anything else you wish to say?

Our community is rapidly growing and changing. As this occurs, we need to keep a balance in our growth while maintaining the attributes that make us “a slice of the good life”. Please support me as Mayor of Winterville. I bring “a different perspective to a growing community”.
