Deb Sheppard, candidate, Greenville City Council District 2

    Deb Sheppard

    Your current job and title:

Community Advocate, Artist, and Founder of HeARToscope

Your highest level of education: Bachelor of Arts in Sociology

If you're elected, what will be your top priority? Why?

My top priority is rebuilding community engagement in District 2. Too many residents
and small businesses feel disconnected from local government. When people are truly involved, we can tackle public safety, grow our economy, and improve
    quality of life together.

If you're elected, how will you involve your constituents in the process of making decisions?

In District 2, I will make sure both residents and small businesses have a seat at the
table. I’ll host regular community forums, listening sessions at neighborhood
spots like churches, barbershops, and local businesses, and create
opportunities for small business owners to share their needs and ideas. I’ll
also use surveys and online platforms, so everyone has a voice in shaping the decisions that impact our community.

Why should voters choose you for the position you're running for?

I’m deeply rooted in this community and have a proven track record of service. I’ve worked on projects that improved our parks, brought resources to families, brought cultural arts to underserved communities, and supported local businesses. I’m running a campaign centered on people, not politics. Voters should choose me because I bring not only experience but also fresh, community-driven ideas to the table. My focus is on creating real solutions that reflect the voices of District 2, ensuring that residents, families, and small businesses have a stake in our future.

Which three things about you do you most want voters to know?

    1. I’ve called Greenville home for 22 years and proudly served as chair of the Recreation & Parks Commission, where I helped secure funding and improvements that benefited families across the city.

    2. As founder of HeARToscope, I’ve invested over $70,000 in the past five years to bring arts, culture, and economic opportunities to West and South Greenville, proving my commitment to uplifting our community.

    3. I’m dedicated to creating safer spaces, expanding resources, and ensuring local government is open, transparent, and inclusive, with decisions shaped with the comunity, not for the community.

Is there anything else about you that you wish to tell voters?

I want voters to know that this campaign is not about politics, it’s about people. I’ve spent over two decades serving Greenville as a volunteer, advocate, and community leader because I believe in the power of neighbors working together. Through my nonprofit HeARToscope, I’ve invested over $70,000 into bringing the arts and opportunities to West and South Greenville, and I plan to bring that same energy, accountability, and creativity to City Council.

My investment in District 2 is also deeply personal. I’m raising my son here, and I have nieces and nephews who call this community home. My promise is simple: I will always listen, always fight for District 2, and always put the community first.
