Voters Choose One of Three Candidates
Ricky Hines

Tony P. Moore
Your current job and title:
I am a business owner with a number of businesses. My major business is North Carolina Driving School Inc., servicing 43 systems in our state.
I worked for Pitt County Schools as a teacher and volunteer for over 52 years.
I have internships in Town Management and Planning from Appalachian State
University.Your highest level of education:
Two master's degrees and an Education Specialist degree from East Carolina University.
If you're elected or re-elected, what will be your top priority? Why?
As a former town employee and Town Council member, I want to continue to promote our town, reduce property taxes, support law enforcement, clean up the town of abandoned homes. This will make the town a more pleasant place to live, work, raise a family and enjoy retirement.
If you're elected or re-elected, how will you involve your constituents in the process of making decisions?
I have an office downtown that is open for others to visit.
Why should voters choose you for the position you're running for?
I am very involved in many civic organizations: Veterans Day chair for 24 years, Ruritans over 50 years, Kiwanis Club over 20 years, Key Club advisor at South
Central High School; one of 12 individuals who signed the note to purchase the first park and, once built, donated to the town; president of WH Robinson PTA, Cancer Drive chairman, president of the Winterville Chamber of Commerce, and
presently president of Greenville South Camp Gideons.Which three things about you do you most want voters to know?
· Politically served State Senator who obtained funds to curb, gutter and add a sidewalk to Main Street.
· As a Town Council member for over 20 years, I represented the town on the Board in negotiating two contracts reducing electric rates. We built a library, public works building, new Public Safety building, reduced sewer costs, built
two additional parks and enlarged the first park as well as enlarged the Town Hall.· Citizens deserve representation that supplies good services and at the lowest costs. They demand a safe town, a clean town, good roads and good schools and commercial business in the town.
Is there anything else about you that you wish to tell voters?
Experience Counts to make the town a great place to live and work. The present board raised taxes, and we are less safe since I left the board two years ago since my opponent was anti-police. When the county and town raised the property values, they should have lowered the tax rate
with no increase especially with over a 110% Fund Balance already in the
bank. Greenville lowered their rate to be neutral increase in taxes.I will do my best to promote the town as a safe town, with good schools, and a good place to raise a family and a place to be proud to call home before and after
retirement.Ken Pearce

Why should voters choose you for the position you're running for?
I have the one quality that is often lacking -- a true, heartfelt desire to make a
difference and do so in an open, honest way.Which three things about you do you most want voters to know?
· I have actual leadership experience, obtained from miltary, industry and
education.· I have extensive experience with managing large budgets and large organizations of workers.
· I believe that people really want to do the right things -- they need leadershipto get there. Is there anything else about you that you wish to tell voters?
I come from humble beginnings. Raised in a low-income family, I know what it
means to work hard, face challenges, and keep moving forward. I’ve built my life from the ground up—and I carry those values of determination, honesty and
service into everything I do.I was raised in a family where opportunities were scarce and nothing came easy. But I believed in hard work—and I believed in the power of education. Earning my college degrees changed the course of my life. It gave me the tools I needed to rise above my circumstances, break cycles of struggle, and build a future I once only dreamed of.
Over the years, I’ve worn many hats:
· A small business owner, creating jobs
· A college professor, educating and mentoring the next generation of leaders
· Proudly served as active-duty Army Infantry for three years
· And a former operations manager for Fortune 500 companies, where I led teams, managed large-scale operations, and solved real-world problems every day
These experiences have shaped me into a leader who understands people, budgets,
systems and results. I know how to listen, how to lead and how to get things done.As mayor, I will focus on:
- Supporting local businesses and attracting responsible, long-term economic growth
- Improving infrastructure and essential services while being fiscally responsible.
- Promoting open, honest and transparent local government.
- Enhancing public safety, education, and quality of life for all residents.
Winterville deserves a mayor who has walked in their shoes and can lead with both heart and experience. I’m running to serve—not to sit behind a desk, but to be out in the
community, solving problems and making progress.
