    Farmville Town Mayor

Voters Choose One of Two Candidates

    John O. Moore

John O. Moore, candidate, Farmville mayor

    Alex Joyner

Alex Joyner, candidate for Farmville Mayor

    Your current job and title:

I am and have been a business consultant for more than 50 years. I am currently serving my third term as Mayor of Farmville.

    Your highest level of education:

I earned an associate degree at Pitt Technical Institute, now known as Pitt Community College.

If you're elected or re-elected, what will be your top priority? Why?

My top priority if re-elected is to see the construction of a new fire station that will allow our firefighters to have better and newer equipment, which will make it possible for them to offer expanded services to Farmville and the surrounding areas they support. Those involved with industries, businesses, retail and housing find new and modern services appealing, so that is a plus for Farmville's anticipated growth. The fire station is a real need.

If you're elected or re-elected, how will you involve your constituents in the process of making decisions?

When I began my time in public service to Farmville, first as a Commission and now as Mayor, I told the Farmville citizens that if they would be my eyes and ears, that I would be their voice. My being accessible through the network of families, friends, and neighbors has kept me informed about what matters most to them. They want a safe, clean, and affordable place to live, work and raise their families.

Why should voters choose you for the position you're running for?

My entire adult life has been focused on establishing and building strong relationships with people, organizations and businesses. These relationships are beneficial when needs are great. Life experiences, a vision for our community, a wide and diverse association with many at the business, military, and personal levels, and my willingness to be open to answer questions to continue to bring transparency to town government.

Which three things about you do you most want voters to know?

The three things that I want the voters of Farmville to know are that I will continue to be approachable, attentive, and available towards meeting their needs. My career doesn't require extended travels, so that allows me to be flexible and ready to respond quickly.

Is there anything else aboutyou that you wish to tell voters?

To the voters of Farmville, I want you to know that I only have your best interest at heart. Your well-being and YOUR quality of life is a priority. I ask you to trust me with your vote. Together, we have accomplished a great deal, but there's still much to finish. Together, we can make it happen. I humbly ask for and will appreciate your vote for John Moore for Mayor on November 4th.

    Your current job and title:

Digital Lab Product Manager at Avantor Inc.

    Your highest level of education:

Bachelor of Science, Health Science from Boston University

If you're elected or re-elected, what will be your top priority? Why?

My top priority upon entering office is to halt the cycle of unchecked debt and begin building a responsible path toward financial recovery. We must stop digging deeper and start constructing a ladder out—through transparency, accountability and sound fiscal planning.

Equally important is the need to unite Farmville as one community. Today, many residents of South Farmville feel unheard and underrepresented. Their concerns deserve attention, and their voices must be part of every decision we make. A truly inclusive government ensures that every resident knows they matter.

Looking ahead, Farmville must embrace strategic planning across three critical areas: infrastructure, finances, and economic development. Currently, we lack clear, actionable plans to guide growth and sustainability. We continue to accumulate debt without a roadmap for repayment. Our infrastructure—roads, sidewalks, sewers—is aging and
underfunded, leaving us unprepared for future expansion. And our business community needs targeted support to attract investment and fill vacant storefronts in a timely, intentional way. Farmville deserves leadership that plans boldly, listens deeply and acts responsibly. That’s the commitment I bring.

If you're elected or re-elected, how will you involve your constituents in the process of making decisions?

Transparency is the cornerstone of my campaign and will remain central to my role as Mayor of Farmville. I believe our residents deserve full visibility into how their tax dollars are spent and how decisions are made. To achieve this, I will advocate for the creation of oversight committees composed of residents and representatives from key organizations—ensuring accountability and public trust
in every aspect of town operations.

We must also reinvigorate public participation by welcoming our residents back into Town Hall meetings. Their voices matter, and their concerns must be addressed with sincerity and urgency. Every community within Farmville deserves representation, and every individual should feel they have a seat at the table.

As Mayor, I will lead with compassion, integrity and honesty—committed to building a government that listens, responds, and serves all who call Farmville home.

Why should voters choose you for the position you're running for?

While I may not come from a traditional political background, every public servant begins somewhere—and for me, that starting point is the Mayor’s office in Farmville. My career in the pharmaceutical industry has equipped me with extensive experience managing multi-million-dollar contracts, budgets, and large-scale implementations—budgets that far exceed Farmville’s annual expenditures. This experience has honed my ability to lead teams through complex challenges and deliver results that benefit all stakeholders.

As a leader, I bring a forward-thinking, strategic approach. I believe in developing 15- to 20-year plans that promote fiscal responsibility and long-term prosperity. Our decisions today must not become burdens for future generations; thoughtful
    planning is essential.

Equally important is ensuring that every resident has a voice in shaping our town’s future. I am
committed to leading with transparency, honesty and integrity—values that are essential to building trust and driving meaningful progress.

By investing in our business community, infrastructure and financial health through strategic
planning, we can position Farmville for sustainable growth and success for generations to come.

Which three things about you do you most want voters to know?

Although I was not born and raised in Farmville, I chose this town as my home and the place to raise my
family. The values of Eastern North Carolina—community, resilience, and integrity—guide me today as a candidate for mayor.

I am committed to ensuring that every resident has a voice in Farmville’s future. Inclusive
decision-making is essential; we cannot move forward without listening to the concerns and ideas of all who call Farmville home.

My mission is to unite our community and foster a sense of pride in our town. We are only as strong as our most vulnerable, and it is our responsibility to uplift one another. “One Farmville” is more than a slogan—it’s a shared vision and a collective goal. Together, we will build a brighter future for Farmville.

Is there anything else about you that you wish to tell voters?

Together, we can make Farmville a town that every resident is proud to call home. I am deeply committed to advocating for all members of our community. Whether you’ve lived here your entire life or recently made Farmville your home, this town holds a special place for everyone.

Our strength lies in our diversity, and it is through unity and shared purpose that we will preserve
Farmville’s resilience and vitality. I will work tirelessly to ensure that
Farmville continues to thrive as a welcoming, inclusive and forward-looking community.
